The fact can not be argued that we still have a large urban patriarchal society. What will happen when one woman of such a society seeing light at the end of a tunnel take the power of making her choices in her own hands? Then how will the alpha male of that society react? The Voot original It's Not That Simple is such a story. It is written by Charudutt Acharya and directed by Danish Aslam. The story is narrated in first person by Meera played by the most suitable for the role, Swara Bhaskar. Meera is in a toxic relationship with her husband Jayesh, played by Karanveer Mehra. Then one fine day after 13 long years in a school reunion, she meets her loving school friends Sameer and Rajiv, played by Akshay Oberoi and Vivan Bathena with either of whom she could have an affair. Will it be right for Meera to have an extra-marital affair, but here her own man objectifies her so what's wrong in exploring other options outside her home and rediscover herself. She was fighting with herself to take tough decisions which she used to fear to take earlier which will give back her respect and freedom of choice. The show also gives glimpse of how women responds to choices in their lives when they have equally good options. It also shows, people regardless of how much they are ignorant about other's matter they still tag them with unsolicited words. The show didn't deter to show that societies do have examples where it have materialistic and selfish women which may not fit in the sanctity of any relationship. This story of denial, love and hate is addictive one. The whole lead cast acted brilliantly. Script writing and other departments too did a good job. If one is influenced by the subject then it is a must watch show for him/her. It consists of 6 episodes, ranging from 26 to 29 minutes. It should be given 7 WVM points.
